Sleigh Bells Are Ringing For New Ten Tenor Jesse Layt

When I joined The Ten Tenors at the start of 2023, I had no idea what the year had in store. Now, following highly successful tours in Brazil, Chile, New Zealand and Australia, I’m embarking on my first Christmas tour with the powerhouse group.

Although Christmas is welcomed by many as a time to slow down and relax, this is when The Ten Tenors are at their busiest. As we move from rehearsals to the stage, there certainly seems to be a change in the air. Sure, temperatures are soaring and kids are finishing school for the year, but more importantly for us, thousands of thrilled audience members are awaiting the chance to see us perform on our Christmas tour.

For me, this is yet another of the many new experiences I’ve had in my first year as a Ten Tenor. Every show and tour this year has been incredible, but there is something so special about performing at Christmas. The energy is so joyous, and the music is some of my favourite. On top of this, our arrangements of these Christmas classics are brilliant, and it makes the music so wonderful to sing.

As the youngest member of a group founded before I was born, life with the group is a consistent journey of development and learning. I feel so fortunate to be able to look back to where I was at the start of the year and already notice so much growth. Sharing the stage with these incredibly talented guys teaches me more about vocal strength and stagecraft than I could ever hope to learn.

Having not missed a show this year, I feel like I’m well and truly settling into life as a Ten Tenor. The travels and tours in 2023 have been so extraordinary and I’ve already created many life memories. With each show I feel more and more at home, and that flows directly into my performance. It makes me so excited for what will come next.
